In 2015, the Interagency Council (formerly SCCH) and United Way of the Midlands researched the healthcare use of people experiencing homelessness and found that they consumed more than $1 billion in health care services between 2010 and 2012. The study was done by matching client data from the state Homeless Management Information System with Medicaid and hospital data.
